Bollywood Actress Sadhana Shivdasani

Sadhana Shivdasani is one such actress, whose talent has fascinated a lot of Indian audiences and particularly she was known for her fringe. She has enacted roles with perfection and extreme care that her fame was not dulled by popular actresses of those times. Her on-screen performances might show similarity to Nutan’s as Sadhana was a great fan of the actress. Sadhana Shivdasani, born on 2nd of September 1941 had a family, where everybody loved films. She is related to Babita, a Hindi film actress who is also the mother of Kareena and Karishma.
Sadhana Shivdasani started acting in drama while she was in college. Through Abana (1960), a Sindhi film, she came into the film industry. Filmmaker Subodh Mukherjee asked to perform the main role for his next film Love In Simla, along with his son, Joy Mukherjee. This film was directed by first time filmmaker R K Nayyar, who after a few years got married to Sadhana. The fringe, which made her popular in the coming years, was asked to be cut by R K Nayyar.
Hum Dono, Parakh and Ek Musafir Ek Hasina gave her good roles and she became very popular among the people in the ’60s. Saaya, Anita and Woh Kaun Thi? were horror films, for performing in which she got good comments. Her remarkable and captivating performances in the films Aarzoo, Mere Mehboob, Inteqaam and Ek Phool Do Maali furthered her already successful career. She was nominated for Best Actress in the Filmfare Awards for the years ’64 and ’65 for the movies Woh Kaun Thi? and Waqt respectively.
In the year 1974, she directed and starred in the movie Geeta Mera Naam. After her weeding with R K Nayyar, she chose to be a homemaker. Sadhana-Nayyar couple don’t have children. She could not be away from movies for a long time. When the couple started a production company, she was involved in all the activities of the company. Her disinterest in performing supportive characters made her decline all offers.
During her successful acting career, she has starred with some of the big names of Hindi film industry. Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Sunil Dutt and Rajendra Kumar were some of the leading actors at that time, with whom she worked. In thriller and romantic category, some movies of hers are classified as iconic films. She is definitely an actress who acts with finesse and charm and has created a niche in the industry.
