Britney Spears’ ‘Femme Fatale’, Good Enough To be Number 1 Spot?
April 15, 2011It’s well-known fact now that Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale is a fusion of pop and dance music , with the added sexy flavour contributed by the singer herself . Britney’s 2008 album Circus reached the number one spot on music charts almost immediately upon its release , even though it wasn’t released and hyped up like her latest collection. The strategically launched snippet, sneak peeks, and the carefully planned promo campaign means that Femme Fatale has already reached the #1 spot on iTunes, and according to industry analysts, if the same momentum is maintained, the album will be number on all the music charts by next week.
Hits Daily Double Senior Editor Roy Trakin told MTV his predictions that around 275,000 to 300,000 copies of Femme Fatale will be sold by next week and although that number is below Britney’s label estimates, he said those numbers are always overinflated. Trakin said that considering the fact that Britney is not the premier female pop performer of the industry now, she has still done a good job in promoting and bringing her album to its current level and her team should be commended for their combined efforts.
But it’s not the sales figures only that have looked impressive. The critics are also happy with the quality of the content that the Oops I did it singer has added in it. The album reviews have all mostly been positive, adding more credibility in the hard work put in by TEAM-Britney. Trakin has a strong belief that she will climb up the rankings once more and Femme Fatale will sell somewhere around 300,000 copies until next week.
Recently, her major rival is British singer Adele, whose 21 has been a dominant force on the number one position in recent weeks. Britney will also face stiff competition from Jennifer Hudson’s I Remember Me, camped at number 2. The album on the whole would have to show some effort in order to displace Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E., which is enjoying the summit on the album charts, while Wiz Khalifa’s debut LP Rolling Papers is also expected to make some noise, making Femme Fatale’s work even harder.
Trakin stated that considering the market situation, Britney’s latest compilation will have a great debut week- second best to only Adele’s, a result which he considers a very decent showing. However, he said that the actual big story of the ongoing week is Wiz Khalifa’s first studio album Rolling Papers, whose sales are expected to be in the range of 190,000 and 215,000 copies.
So should Britney feel threatened that her projected number one spot could be taken by the lanky Pittsburgh rapper? Trakin said ‘no,’ as in spite of a very strong debut, Rolling Papers would likely sell 100,000 less copies than Femme Fatale.Free Online Music
