Before singing, one must have to warm up first. A good way in warming up is through lip roll. Start it by placing your lips together and exhale in a way that air passes in your lips and makes them flap. After which, breath normally for thirty seconds and repeat approximately three to five minutes. In this way, it loosens the lips and makes it more comfortable.
Correct way of inhaling. When one sings, a quick inhalation is needed. So that your vocals will correlate with the musical instruments. Try to imagine a powerful air is hitting your body. You will feel the sensation of filling your lungs faster. By this, it is also how you will do when you inhale during singing.
Constant and smooth exhalation is a must. By this breathing exercise, it will help you to sing several high notes and long slow phrases. The best way to do this is to visualize that you’re blowing a feather around. Use a long stream of air so that it can move up. By doing this, your abdomen and chest will be in good condition. After this, you will feel that you need to take a deep breath quickly.
Good posture is also one. A good posture will allow you to have a deep and full breath. If you have a stiff or rigid posture and your diaphragm is locked can result to incorrect breathing. One example of exercise in order to have a good posture while singing is to lie down on the floor and put a bundle of books in your stomach. Then, inhale and exhale. While you inhale you will see that the book goes up and if you exhale it goes down also. After this, you will feel some sensation within your body.
To sum it up, by starting this regime with a lip roll then by inhaling quickly and exhaling slowly, and maintaining a proper posture will help you sing more efficiently.
