Saira is known for charming looks and skillful acting in her movies. She is a very spontaneous actress and her style is seen her acting too. Junglee (1961) was her first film with Shammy Kapoor, when she was only 17. The movie was popular for track Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe. She has acted in Gopi, Sagina, Shagird, Deewana and Duniya, some prominent films in the list of almost 40 films she has completed. As a result of her noteworthy performance in Sagina, Shagird and Deewana, she became the nominee for Filmfare Best Actress Award. Even though some of her movies failed commercially, her performance had an influence on the audience. She chose different roles in order to prove her versatility. Chaitali with a social message, Shagird with a comedy theme and Bairaag with a touching storyline are the variety of movies she chose in her career. The movie Padosan with Mehmood singer Kishore Kumar and Sunil Dutt is regarded as a well known film of hers. It is a light hearted comical flick where the male lead tries to woo the girl he loves saying that he is a singer. This movie, which has a few evergreen songs in it, was commercially successful. Mere Saamnewaali Khidki Mein, Ek Chatur Naar and Main Chali Main Chali are some of the popular songs in that film.
Other films of Saira Banu include Bluffmaster, April Fool, Aayi Milan Ki Bela, Aman and Jhuk Gaya Aasman. She got opportunities to work with many of the well known names of Bollywood, Dharmendra, Rajendra Kumar, Joy Mukherji and Biswajeet. The romantic pair of Saira Banu and Rajendra Kumar was well-accepted by the masses. Aayi Milan Ki Bela, with both the actors, was a huge success commercially. Personal Life.
Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar got married in 1976 when she was only 22 and afterwards she stopped acting. But afterwards she gave special appearances in Dilip Kumar starrer Duniya and also in Faisla. She was honored with Lifetime Achievement Award in International Film Festival at Pune in 2011, January.
