April 21, 2011Kangana Ranaut is a popular actress in the Bollywood industry. Born in Himachal, she is daughter to an instructor Asha and businessman Amardeep Kaur. Blessed with charm and talent, she started exploring the world of modeling. To give a head start to her modeling career in Delhi, she chose to join Elite Modelling Agency. Within a short span of time she got interested in acting.
Kangana started her career as an actress while working as a theatre actor with the Asmita Theatre Group. Taledanda by Girish Karnad was her first venture in theatre, through which she got the opportunity to work with Arvind Gaur, a play director from India. Later on, with a passion to act in movies, she brushed up her acting talent. Relocating to Mumbai turned out to be a right decision for her because she got the needed break in films while in the new place.
She was given her first break in movies as the main character in Gangster when talented film director Anurag Basu spotted her in a cafe in Mumbai. Through this mega hit, Kangana Ranaut was acknowledged as a talented actress. For the scintillating performance in this movie, she received the award for best female debutant in Filmfare Awards. Her notable acting in the movie paved way for her next film, Woh Lamhe.
Anurag Basu chose her once again for his film Life In A Metro, in which she enacts the role of a confused girl looking out for real love. Her acting talent was appreciated once more in this film. In Fashion, she portrayed the character of a reputed model who later on loses all that she had because of drug obsession. She got good reviews for this character. This film became a big success, which reflected modeling industry’s dark side. For the excellent performance in this movie, Kangana Ranaut received both National and Filmfare award in the category of Best supporting actress.
The commercial thriller, Raaz – The Mystery Continues, was her last appreciated movie. In the movie Kites starring the handsome Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut gave a special appearance.
Her dedication and sincerity to work has fetched her good roles not only in North India but in South India as well. She acts along side Bobby Deol in her next release Vaada Rahaa, while her next upcoming venture is Ek Niranjan, which is from the noted Telugu director, Puri Jagannadh.
