And, many of the local artists are more than happy to help others with budding talent. They may offer group classes and private lessons as well.
Perhaps you have an interest in photography. Or, maybe you have always wanted to paint or draw. Or, even if you want to work with clay, there are classes available in all of these and more. Whether you want to try a group class situation or a private one is something to think about. If you like working in a group and enjoy the input of others, than the answer is pretty simple. But, if you are shy or your work is something you want to keep private, take that into account, too. Not everyone works best in the same situation. Some people like to try each, or even both at once.
Many courses are offered on a once a week basis, but some may be more frequent such as twice or even three times a week. If you take private lessons, you can arrange with your instructor how often you would like to meet. Taking a break, such as from the end of one course to the beginning of another, can allow for a recess or working some privately on your own. However, if you fall out of a routine that you have set for developing your craft, it can lead to procrastination and taking a step backward, which as an artist of any fashion, you probably do not want to do.
If art is something that one gets into as a child, you may not take the opportunity up again until later in life. Because we have more time once we retire and the next is empty, many begin their artist life as they get older. Because there is more time to spend on the craft, this actually works out well for many. One should never feel they are too old to learn; you are not. And because art is an outlet of expression, it can prove to be relaxing as well.

You can develop an art that may supplement your income, or simply find a way to express your inner self. Whatever your passion, art can be a release from the tensions of everyday life and an enrichment experience.
