I recently held a workshop with incredible students, when a really lovely older woman, after being shown the best way to release her diaphragm, announced “Oh, that feels so great!” I spend my day being totally tense and I never knew how to let go of this tension, until now!”, she told me in front of the class. After hearing what she said, I definitely realized how crucial proper breathing and understanding the diaphragm really is to a singer and how I need to focus more on it with my students.
