And similar to the development of events in the story, the character as well must develop. The facing of the climax should be the turning point of their entire lives. When they discover something new about themselves, or face something they’ve never been able to face before. They must be transformed, and become better than they were when they started.
And it goes without saying that your novel should be interesting. It should contain a likeable character, or at least one that people are interested in reading about. The story should contain enough conflict and resolution sprinkled throughout to keep people interested. The topic should be one that most people would enjoy thinking about during the time it will take to read your novel.

Whether you are writing a children’s story or steamy adult romance, when you contain the aforementioned structure elements, your novel will be much more interesting, much more widely read, and you will be much more successful.
