Why I Love The Yamaha Tyros 4
May 18, 2011If, like me, you’re serious about music, you’ll love the Yamaha Tyros workstation – Yamaha’s best all-round, top dollar keyboard, as used by professionals. They had one in my local music store the other day and I gave it a test drive. I have to say that the Yamaha Tyros 4 keyboard is awesome, and I have to get my hands on one as soon as possible.
As well as having all the features you’d expect from a high-end keyboard, the Yamaha Tyros 4 has a big display screen with video output, an Internet Direct Connection and lots of really funky software. It looks really cool too. With over 500 voices and 400 different styles and multi pads, the cutting edge Yamaha Tyros keyboard almost gives you too much choice. AND it’s totally portable too.
If you are worried that you will not be able to get a realistic sound out of this unit, you should not be. The Mega Voices function provides all of the nuances you would expect from a real instrument. For instance, when you play the guitar, you hear the sound of the string, the sound of the pick hitting the string, and other vibrations. These sounds are included in this workstation.
The flexibility of the Yamaha Tyros workstation is mind-blowing. If you want to sound like a virtuoso piano player: no problem. The Tyros uses the same painstakingly recorded sampling as on Yamaha’s Clavinova digital piano to re-create the totally convincing sound of a concert standard grand piano. That’s only one of the many realistic instrument sounds the Yamaha Tyros keyboard gives you – it’s got everything from woodwind to strings and percussion. You can put together an entire band or an orchestra.
The range of sounds isn’t limited to what’s already programmed in though. The sky is the limit with the Yamaha Tyros workstation’s Custom Voice Creation feature. This allows you to record any sound as a new voice and take your music into previously unchartered territory. The Yamaha Tyros keyboard is a mixing desk too. You can mix 16 tracks using a whole range of effects and get a really professional sound, with a few cool mixing skills.
You may be worried that this workstation will be incredibly hard to use. However, it really isn’t. You can easily learn to use this keyboard and take advantage of all of its features quite quickly. Many of the functions are easy to access and only require you to press a single, clearly labeled button. You can also connect to the Web via a wireless connection, save your music to the included hard disk, and upload your recorded files to your computer so you can edit them in your preferred software.
What else can I say? I could go on forever about the Yamaha Tyros workstation. But basically, this is the daddy of all keyboards and I can’t wait to get one. Life will never be the same again.
